Renieri is a stunning and beautiful winery estate in Montalcino owned by the Bacci Family. Located on the northeast quadrant of Montalcino, facing Mt. Amiata, the estate comprises of 128 acres of which 30 acres are under vine at the elevation of 350 – 420 metres. Yields are 1 kg per vine, equivalent of 1 bottle of wine. Nearby vineyards include Biondi Santi and Caparzo.
The single fallen tree on labels for wines from this estate serves as a reminder of a tornado that travelled through Montalcino in 2002.
New this year is the Brunello di Montalcino 2007 and Invetro 2009 Toscana IGT. Both wines are Specialty Listed and are available at selected BC Liquor Stores.
Tasting Notes: A deep, intense ruby red introduces an impressively complex, multi-layered nose characterized by dark red berry fruit, vanilla, and abundant notes of pungent pencil lead and tobacco leaf. The wine shows considerable power on the palate, held nicely in check by supple tannins. The finish is notable not only for its elegant balance but for its length as well, lingering on the taster’s palate for many minutes.
94 Points James Suckling (Jan 2012) – “Wild aromas of ripe fruit and fresh porcini mushrooms, follow through to a full body, with big juicy tannins. What it lacks in finesse it gives in opulence. This needs another three to four years to soften.”
Silver Medal – Decanter World Wine Awards 2012 – “Modern style with sweet blackcurrant, plum and cedar nose and an earthy and savoury palate. Lively, vibrant mouthfeel with velvety tannins. Very uplifting.

RENIERI Invetro – IGT Toscana 2009 +303883 – $28.98/bottle
Named after the innovative glass cork enclosure “Invetro”, this super Tuscan is a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Made with flexible o-rings, the stopper provides a sterile seal, preventing contamination or oxidation. An aluminum overcap and traditional neck sleeve will ensure mechanical protection and tamper evidence.
Tasting Notes: Superbly rich ruby-red appearance. Very complex on the nose, with crisp fruit fragrances melding beautifully with earthy notes. The palate exhibits a solid structure with impressive depth, and a judicious equilibrium between alcoholic warmth and tannic weave. Very long tasty finish.
88 Points Robert Parker (May 2011) - “The 2009 Invetro is an attractive, mid-weight wine laced with expressive dark fruit, spices, mocha, new leather and licorice. The length and overall sense of harmony compensate for the wine’s slightly compact personality. The Invetro is a delicious wine at this level. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2014″ – Antonio Galloni.
